Edmodo for Parents in grades 3-5

Edmodo is an online communication tool that I have been using with the older grades for some time in GT pullout class. It is a great place for me to post things that students can access at home if they desire; working on Edmodo at home is not required.  Most of our digital projects can be stored and viewed there as well.  If you would like to open a parent account and see your child's Edmodo class, please review the following directions:
1.  Have your child log in to Edmodo at home
2.  Look for the parent code on the right hand side of the screen and copy down.

5th Grade: Chair Challenge!

5th Grade is warming up their robotics kits by completing their first building challenge:  To create a chair for Mr. Moose or one of his buddies (cute beanie babies without seating) with only the lego parts (bricks, rounded beams, bushings, etc) included in their robotics kits.  Students constructed the chair based on their own design, then made additions like cupholders, arm & foot rests, lights, wheels, recliners, etc!  During and after construction a short video was produced to show how the chair was made, possible uses, and importance to Mr. Moose.  Below is an excerpt of the video created by Sydney and Jasmine, 5th grade robotics students.  Other videos have been uploaded to Edmodo for viewing.  Frost students have constructed so many different and ingenious designs and showcased them so creatively within their videos.  Great job, 5th grade!

Grades 1-3 Charles Lindbergh & Amelia Earhart

Exploring the lives of inspiring individuals is our theme this year in grads 1-3.  The two people we've studied most recently are Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart, both famous aviators.  We've learned

4th Grade Marble Runs-Mrs. Boaz

As you know,  4th grade has been working on aerodynamic properties.  We had been talking about Newton's Laws, potential and kinetic energy, gravity, friction, distance, mass, acceleration . . . all the fun

5th Grade Robotics: A Chair for Mr. Moose

Fifth grade started working with their robotic kits this week.  The first assignment is a engineering design project Chair for Mr. Moose.  Working with only the lego pieces given in the kit, students must design a fully functioning chair for Mr. Moose (who by the way has 4 legs).  The chair must be sturdy enough that when he sits on it, it will not break.  Students are also encouraged to add extensions like cup holders or foot rests after they've successfully built his basic chair.  To see your student, click on the videos below!
