Grades 1-3: Powerful People
How do powerful people overcome setbacks in their lives to achieve greatness? This is the question we will ponder as we research and discuss power people and their characteristics. Learning about Nancy Brinker, Da Vinci, Steve Jobs, etc helps us understand that we all have these same characteristics within our personalities that can be used for a good and purposeful life.
Grades 4-5: Engineering
In Grade 4, we will start off our year of engineering design by participating in the Global Cardboard Challenge. Our cardboard designs will be interactive and shared by others and used to collect money for a good cause. Afterward we will begin the study of aerodynamics, starting with various properties of air experiments designed to show us how humans interact with the air surrounding us daily.
Grade 5 will begin their engineering quest through the study of robotics and how humans use robots to improve the quality of our lives. Robotics is an up and coming field that continues to grow. Throughout this course, students will learn about other fields of engineering and whether or not they are interested in pursuing engineering as a career choice someday.
