I am loving 5th grade's robotic skills! We have been all about robotics: robotic engineering careers, new and exciting robots, building adaptations on our existing robots, and finally programming our robots to do the task we require. Our programming has involved using the NXT software on our computers to run all kinds of moves, do something when a touch or distance sensor is activated, making sounds, and detecting a black line. Currently, we are putting our robots through practice sessions for the Robotic Olympics, where we will showcase our skills with the those of other 5th graders from several different elementary campuses! Some of our events include: curling, floor exercise, bowling, etc.
All of our robotics equipment has been made possible by the Frost PTO and grants awarded the Frost GT program. My fifth graders and I would like to say THANK YOU! It is so amazing to see the learning going on when students troubleshoot through a problem and make the design work.
