Welcome back to GT Pullout at Frost!
I'm excited a new year has begun, and wanted to let you know how we are starting the year and where we are headed
For all grade levels, we are starting with a three week unit called "A Deep and Complex Look at Me". We are researching a V.I.P.--ourselves! Grades 1-3 read the book, Who Is Melvin Bubble and discussed the book using our icons of depth and complexity. As we analyzed the book, we discovered ways in which to research ourselves.
Students have a menu of choices of activities they can do to complete their research about themselves. Grades 4 & 5 are completing a menu as well, but it is differentiated for their ability. Once we finish our "Deep and Complex Look" mini-unit, we will be moving into our year-long curriculum. This year grades 1-3 will be working on Perspectives, the study of people and their accomplishments. Fourth grade is taking flight in Aerodynamics, and fifth grade will be studying robotics and the engineering process. Unit matrices are posted on my webpage on the Frost website as well as the district GT handbook.
